Darlie is a toothpaste brand of the Hong Kong based company Hawley & Hazel. It was bought in 1985 by the US corporation Colgate-Palmolive. At that time the original name was “Darkie”.

The image at the right is the “evolution” of Darlie.

    I remember seeing this on store shelves in Bangkok all the time. I brought it up while teaching a communications class last year; my students were shocked.
